Recuperative Plate Heat Exchangers

REKULUVO®/REKUGAVO® Counterflow plate-type technology

REKULUVO®/REKUGAVO® Counterflow plate-type heat exchangers provide optimum heat recovery efficiency in the most compact space. Often used as combustion air preheaters in ammonia and methanol plants or in fired heaters, they are also suitable in environmental technology as flue gas reheaters in DeNOx or catalytic combustion units.

Counterflow systems for highest efficiency

Operating mode

Recuperative plate heat exchangers, based on modular heat recovery, have been in use in industrial plants since 1989. In each module the media flows through the plates in counterflow with absolutely leak-free separation. Counterflow heat exchangers are the most efficient exchangers available.

REKULUVO®- recuperative air preheaters

The REKULUVO® is used for combustion air preheating in power stations or in chemical and petrochemical plants, e.g. primary reformers or fired heaters.

REKUGAVO® - recuperative flue gas reheaters

The REKUGAVO® is used for flue gas reheating in DeNox units, typically in waste-to-energy plants or catalytic combustion units.

Excellent heat recovery

Design

Both REKULUVO® and REKUGAVO® can be designed with one or two stages. The inlet and outlet hoods, arranged above and below the REKULUVO® supply, combine and discharge the individual volume flows from the rows connected in parallel. While the plates remain vertical for better cleaning behaviour, the hoods can be adapted to suit any duct routing.

Advantages

  • The counterflow design provides excellent heat recovery rates in a surprisingly space-saving design.
  • The completely welded design provides technically leak-free media separation. No pollutants are transferred and the volume flow does not increase.
  • Good accessibility to heating surfaces, easy maintenance and repair thanks to the simple modular design.
  • Better waste heat recovery means no fan-related bottlenecks in existing plants, especially in steam reformers, resulting in higher productivity.

Cleaning system

With media involving high dust loads, the REKULUVO® or REKUGAVO® is equipped with high-performance sootblowers on the flue gas inlet side.

Combustion air preheating with REKULUVO®

Combustion air preheater for the chemical industry

The REKULUVO® is used as a combustion air preheater in the chemical and petrochemical industries. Its unequalled high efficiency combined with its compact design boosts plant productivity.

REKULUVO® for steam reformers

The REKULUVO® can be used for air preheating in the primary reformer of steam reformers of ammonia and methanol plants. It is a key unit for the capacity of the entire plant. The REKULUVO® is chosen when increased capacity is required.

Thanks to its compact design, the REKULUVO® can replace existing rotary air preheaters in power stations, making a decisive contribution in increasing boiler efficiency due to its leak-free operation.

Flue gas heating with REKUGAVO®

DeNOx & waste incineration plants
The REKUGAVO® is often first choice for reheating flue gas between desulphurisation and SCR-DeNOx, and its high thermal recovery rate allows a very small temperature approach and, consequently, large energy saving. The SCR-DeNOx system catalyst can be easily combined with the REKUGAVO® resulting in compact DeNOx unit.

Catalytic combustion

The REKUGAVO® is increasingly being used in catalityc combustion plants, combining low consumtion of energy from external sources with high efficiency levels.
